Items are organised in a tree: family (top level) → item.

1. Create the family (the top level of the item tree) and link it to fixed accounts - sales account, purchases account, default warehouse. Every item under it inherits these.
2. Create the item: give it a full descriptive name (EN + AR), a short name for POS receipts, and set its VAT (11% for subject, 0% for exempt). Tick service if it has no stock.
3. Add units of measure with conversion factors - buy in liters, sell in milliliters (1 L = 1,000 ml), or buy a gallon (4 L = 4,000 ml). Each unit can carry its own SKU and barcode.
4. Save. The item is ready for purchase and sales.
